Liverpool FC have today confirmed the loan of Welsh international Ben Woodburn who will spend the 2019/20 with Oxford United.
“I spoke to Karl and he has done well with previous younger players in the past,” said Woodburn.
“Obviously I know Cam Brannagan, so I think it is a good fit for me in my career at this moment in time. I think it’s a stepping stone that I need to push on.
“It’s a great league, it’s a tough league and I’ve just got to show what I can do in these games and hopefully show my quality.”
Woodburn, 19, spent last season on loan at Sheffield United but returned to Anfield early after only managing 7 appearances for the promotion chasing blades.
While dropping down to League one level may been seen as a death nail in many players careers others such as Harry Kane before him has shown that just because you are plying your trade in the lower leagues does not mean that you do not have a bright future in the Premier League ahead of you.
