Brazilian keeper Marcelo Pitaluga travelling to England to complete move.
Fluminense have announced the sale of Marcelo Pitaluga to Liverpool with the player travelling to England today to complete paperwork and medical.
Marcelo Pitaluga: “This opportunity to go to Liverpool will be very important to me. It was a unique opportunity, mainly due to having a European passport.”
Beyondthekop reached out to Brazilian football expert @Zizouology to discuss the future of Pitaluga.
“He’s better than all of Liverpool’s current academy goalkeepers and I would expect to see him train with the first team. The plan is to send him on loan to smaller clubs and get him prepared by the time Alisson gets older, and eventually replace him. This was talked with his agents and family, but of course it depends on his development”
Once again shows Liverpool’s long term planning, splashing out €2m on a 17 year old who has never played a game of professional football. It’s the second biggest goalkeeper sale in Brazil to Europe. Alisson Becker was sold for €5m, he was a starter for Brazil.
