Continuing our where are they now series, today we look at the life and career of reserve team striker Michael Ngoo.
Ngoo is not only an ex Red of Liverpool but also an ex Red Devil of Manchester United after having trialed for them as a youth and represented them in the Milk cup as an under 16 with United winning the tournament.
He was a youth player at Southend United at the time and at 6’4 he was often likened to another ex Red Peter Crouch, Liverpool scouted him during the Milk Cup and made their move before United could snap him up paying Southend a £250,00 fee.
Ngoo spent the first season with the u18s but after scoring 15 goals in 21 appearances he was moved up to the reserve team where he finished as their top scorer the next season.
The first team was touching distance away for Ngoo who had a loan spell in Scotland with Hearts however an injury cut his spell short, later loan spells with Yeovil Town & Walsall followed but early promise was never realised with Liverpool releasing him in 2014.
After being released by Liverpool he joined Kilmarnock on a two year deal but a horrific injury after a collision with Virgil Van Dijk meant he only ever made 6 appearances for the club.
After being released from Kilmarnock he signed short term deals with Bromley & Oldham Athletic before finishing his career in England in the 2016-17 season.
So where is he now ?
Michael Ngoo signed for FK Tirana in 2017 and helped them to Albanian Super Cup & first division titles, after some early issues including fall outs with their manager and some off the field issues (Ngoo was handed community service for selling laughing gas at the V Festival) he is now a fan favorite at club scoring 16 times in 40 games.
