It is widely agreed that if Liverpool are to do any transfer business once the window re-opens than a backup left back will be high on the agenda, However reports coming out from Greece are suggesting the Reds are actually looking at a replacement.
According to Greek outlet SDNR, Liverpool have been impressed with Kostas Tsimikias who is rated at around £25m by his club Olympiakos.
The report goes on to say that Liverpool have watched the player against Arsenal and versus Wolves and were impressed with that they saw, it goes on to say
“The reason that Tsimikas has been targeted by Liverpool is none other than the fact that the English team is looking for a player who will be Robertson’s replacement in the position of left back.
The Scot, who has played in all the games of both the league and Europe, has started to decline in recent times, which of course did not go unnoticed by the “red” people.”
Liverpool are not the only club rumoured to be interested in the Greek defender with Spurs, Leicester and Napoli also said to be tracking him.
While the player certainly seems to have a lot of the attributes needed to play for Liverpool he certainly would not be coming in as a Robertson replacement and at a cost of £25m it would seem unlikely that Liverpool would spend that amount on money on a backup.
