No Room In The Squad For Thiago

Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago, however as things stand there is not a spot in the squad for the Spanish midfielder until a non homegrown player moves away.

As discussed recently in The Anfield’s Wrap talking reds show under Premier league rules any clubs 25 man squad can not have any more than 17 non-“homegrown” players.

With the return of Loris Karius & Marko Grujic to the club this means Liverpool are now set to the maximum of 17.

The list of non homegrown players for Liverpool are.

Melissa Reddy also discussed in a recent article in the Independent that finance is not the key determining factor over a deal, would this suggest that Liverpool need to offload a non homegrown player before they can bring in another ?

BTK Opinion

This makes a lot of sense to me and if as Melissa Reddy said that finances are not an issue it would seem that Liverpool would first have to offload a non homegrown player and ideally a midfielder, Marko Grujic would seem the most likely candidate.
