Loan Watch 2021/22: Week 5

In our weekly feature we will look at all the Liverpool players who are out on loan both at home and abroad and report on how they got on at their new clubs.

Tuesday 10th August:

Both Paul Glatzel & Sepp Van Den Berg kicked off their league cup campaign but with different results, Van Den Berg was part of the Preston defence that kept a clean sheet as they eased past Mansfield Town by 3 goals to nil and picked up a rating of 7 from Lancashire Live.

Glatzel however had somewhat of a mixed bag of a game, he did manage to pick up his first assist of the season when his through ball to Sam Foley put Tranmere ahead however with the game poised at 2-2 and in the last minute he was through in on goal only to have his shot saved when he should have done better, his night only went from bad to worst as Oldham took Tranmere to penalties and he had his spot kick saved and Rovers went crashing out.

Thursday 12th August:

Anderson Arroyo has finally resolved his visa issues and was able to start training with CD Mirandes.

Friday 13th August:

Vitezslav Jaros was involved in a scary incident during St.Pats win over Waterford which led to his team mate Lee Desmond being stretchered off after a clash of heads with the Czech keeper, there was a long delay as both players had to receive treatment on the pitch.

Saturday 14th August:

Sepp Van Den Berg celebrated his first u21 international call up with a great game for Preston, he kept the score goalless with a crucial block at 0-0 in the first half and rallied the crowd early in the 2nd half when Preston were 2-1 down, meanwhile in League 2, Paul Glatzel started for Tranmere Rovers but was subbed early in the 2nd half.

As Liverpool were kicking off their league against Norwich young Polish stopper Jakub Ojrzynski was kicking off his Welsh Premier League experience against Haverfordwest County and keeping a clean sheet in the process.

He is certainly making an impression in Wales, so much so some young fans are waiting after games just to catch a glimpse of the keeper.

  • Adam Lewis (Livingston)
