Liverpool have agreed a £45m fee to sign Diogo Jota from Wolverhampton Wanderers, the player will sign a 5 year deal with the Reds and fee is set to be paid over the length of the contract.
- Name: Diogo Jota
- Age: 23
- Position: left wing but can play anywhere across the front 3
- Nationality: Portuguese
- Goals & Assist last season: 7 goals and 1 assist.
Jota signed for Wolves on loan in July 2017 before making the move permanent the following season for a reported fee of £14m, he scored 17 goals in his first season and became only the 2nd Portuguese player after Cristiano Ronaldo to score a hat-trick in the Premier League the following season.
Mostly played as a left sided forward for Wolves but has played the number 9 and even on the right in the past so he will be able to provide cover for any of the Liverpool front 3.
How does he compare against the other Liverpool target Ismael Sarr?
At first glance there is not much to pick between both players, they play roughly the same amount of minutes, Jota scored a couple of more goals but Sarr picked up more assist however when you take a closer look at their numbers it comes obvious why Liverpool plucked for Jota.
As you can see from the above Diogo Jota likes to dribble and those dribble often wins a foul for his team, he is also not afraid to shoot and he often cuts inside to do so.
Diogo Jota style of play has been compared to that of Paulo Dybala in the past and if he can reproduce the form that saw him get a move to Liverpool the Reds will have one hell of a player on their hands.
